12.09.2011Nordic and Norwegian Championship
This weekend we participated in Nordic and Norwegian championships in Moss. An absolute fantastic weekend, even though the results weren't brilliant. Moss SF did a great job regarding all logistics in sailing and on shore. Great food, great arrangement, great tracks and we were blessed with really nice weather 2 out of 3 days.

Friday we sailed four regattas. Ending the day with two broken rudders, one broken trapez, and one boat had a non tuned rig.

Saturday we sailed five regattas. A very long day out on the water, but it was very fun. One capsizes ending with a broken rudder here as well.

Sunday was blown away for us. Wind speed up to 15 m/s was far beyond what we felt was comfortable so we passed the last two regattas. Though it was a pleasure to see NEL007 rocking the heavy winds and messed up water.

See our album for pictures, and we all hope to come back here in Moss.
20.06.2011Færdern 2011 - One weekend of misfortune.
One of this year higlights was the "Færder" event. Unfortunally it didn't turn out that way. Several circumstances made the weekends results to a disaster, but there were also a lot of fun, many experiences, and adding 20 hours in the boats we have learnt a lot.

Friday
It all started Friday morning. One boat out(NOR-17), and one boat had to sail to Oslo before start(NOR-19). 3 boats was prepared in Lysaker and the crew would arrive with one of the following boat. There wasn't much wind this morning, and when the wind direction was North and the boat should sail north, it takes a while. It had to be towed in. Because of wind increasing they decided to sail the last part. From time to time the helmsman jumps off the boat, causing the boat to coal sail. Unfortunally the helmsman lost the boat and spent a long time in the water. NOR-19 never made the start 1150.
Seilas covered the story

As told the crew to the other 3 boat took the following boat into Oslo. The day where everything failed struck again. The engine stopped near Fagerstrand. No luck getting it going again, so we got to call up a rescue boat, towing us back to Drobak. Shit!! 3 boats stuck, and never made the start. After a while we looked up a new following boat, the crew were sent to Oslo by car. Status, NOR-19 missed the start but joined the field as they came further south. NOR-20, 24 started from Lysaker much much later, but was set to complete the whole race distance. NOR-23 was towed to the the start of day two. All three "active" boats had a serious funny trip in heavy rain, wind direction from north and played around in a field with 800 other competitors. Lets say it this way, the F-18 were everywhere.

The day ended in Moss, Tronsvik. An impressive lamb barbeque dinner, couple of beers and a good nights sleep!

Saturday
Day two started 10 AM. New day, new opportunities. Everybody were set for a fresh start. Wind direction from south this day. NOR-19, 20 and 24 made an ok start and headed north. A nice leg from Moss around Tofteholmen before heading south against Mefjordboen.

First NOR-19 got technical trouble The trapeze broke and helmsman fell into the water again, causing the boat to coal. Both onboard got some minor injuries, and with one working trapeze they couldn't follow NOR-20 and chose to withdraw from the race.

Exactly the same happend to NOR-24. One man in the water, but the boat didn't didn't coal. They continued a litle further, but withdraw after a while.

NOR-20 raced the whole track, Max speed 18.1 knots, and 17th place. Congrats! NOR-23 never made the start for this race either.

Sunny Horten with a great aftersail gig, and a lot of cold beer. A very nice weekend.

Pictures are distributed in the Picasa album

Next up - Hankø Race Week. 30th june to 3rd of july.

16.06.2011Færder'n 2011
We are all set for "Færder'n" which is a annual Raceevent. The largest sailingevent in Norway. Start from Oslo harbour 11.50 tomorrow friday, 25 boats in our class and project-f18.com got all 5 boats signed up. Wish us good luck! It looks like the wind is with us, and let's hope the rainforcast dosen't strike and the sun will shine. Wish us good luck!
23.05.2011KNS Vårregatta
Howdy people! 4 boats enjoed two wonderful and excited days at "KNS Vårregatta" this weekend, though it was a wet experience. After a difficult saturday with heavy winds and rough sea, we had a nice sunday with 3 completed regattas. NOR-17 and NOR-20 was the best boats in our group, but NOR-19 is gaining. Sorry for NOR-24 a mecanical problem occured after the first regatta Sunday. The mast came loose and fell into the water. The boat had to be to be towed into shore, and did not participiate in any more reggattas Sunday. Shame, but guess NOR-24 won't do that again and inspects each and everu nut on the boat before starting sailing next time. Pictures are distributed in the Picasa album, and results are located in KNS homepage.
Enjoy.
